The Profitable Environment of Real-Money Trading

Virtual-to-real transaction is the practice of distributing virtual currencies, items and services for real-world profit. All over the world regular gamers are purchasing online game currencies and filling the pockets of virtual entrepreneurs. Those competing in the real-money trading industry include dedicated professionals to part-time players, big-city businesses to the bedroom entrepreneur. The "virtual warehouse" of workers is immense, with the working population of thousands in the People's Republic of China working alongside the millions of avid MMORPG gamers.
The industry is rarely reported in the media and even when it has, it's gone little beyond the trivial details. Regardless of this, RMT remains most active in games such as World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, EverQuest and EVE, to name a few. This can be shown in Final Fantasy XI where players journey through numerous dungeons, quests and scenarios in order to acquire piles of the game's currency. Many gamers decide to spend their hard-earned currency on themselves, but others decide to make real-world profit from their virtual acquisitions ; and there are plenty of them.
Developers of MMORPGs tend to disagree with the practices detailed above, and they cite several reasons for doing so. Purist gamers object that the practice of real-for-virtual exchange harms the economy of the game and violates the spirit of gameplay by introducing monetary influence. Hyper-inflation of the game's economy is another issue put forward, but the evidence of this inflation is questionable. Legally, real-money trading breaks no laws and has led to no convictions within the Western world, but pressure for government intervention grows each day.
Developers such as Funcom have pushed passed the problems and seen nothing but opportunity for legitimized RMT. There is certainly money to be made, whether it's by developers or entrepreneurs, and the market shows no sign of slowing. With the introduction of new titles to the genre and increase in gaming population, this industry is certainly one to watch, whether as an investor, opportunist or admiring onlooker.
